Senior Hockey Inter Insulars - Jersey - Saturday 20 March 2010

Players and Supporters: the Senior Hockey Inter Insulars take place in Jersey on Saturday 20 March 2010. Debbie Hunter is once again co-ordinating travel, accommodation & dinner arrangements. Debbie has reserved flights and accommodation (at the Royal Hotel, Jersey) with the following options available:

2 Night Break - £151 (30 places res.) Flights: Gsy-Jsy Fri 19 March 18.00 or 19.50 return Jsy-Gsy Sun 21 March 19.50.

1 Night Break - £115 (60 places res.) Flights: Sat 20 March Gsy-Jsy 08.00 or 09.30 return Sun 21 March 17.00 or 19.50

Day return - £71 (50 places res.) Flights: Sat 20 March Gsy-Jsy 08.00 return Jsy- Gsy 19.00.

The cost of the Dinner is £25.00 per person.

Places will be reserved on a first come, first served basis - so get your name down asap!!

Ladies Training Sessions - Thursdays 18.30-20.00 MF

Any lady player who wishes to be considered for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Island inter insular squads is welcome to attend training sessions on Thursday evenings on the Memorial Field pitch from 6.30-8.00 p.m.. All squads will be coached by talented and willing Coaches - so come along and get ready to pull on a Green shirt for the Inter Insular’s on Saturday 20 March 2010 - in Jersey. The Island 1st XI squads have matches against Men’s Division 2 teams throughout the season. The 2nd and 3rd XI squads have practice matches starting on Sunday 31 January 2010. Due to the deteriorating weather conditions expected this evening, all training sessions have been cancelled. To confirm these sessions are: Ladies Inter Insular 1st, 2nd & 3rd XI Squad training on the Memorial Field pitch from 18.30-20.00 & Men’s 1st XI Squad training on the FL pitch 20.00-21.30.

The Guernsey Hockey LBG Annual General Meeting will take place on Wednesday 30th September at The Clubhoouse, Footes Lane. All members are welcome to attend. The meeting will start promptly at 18:30.

CHAMPIONS!!! Guernsey wins Harrod UK Men’s Trophy

Guernsey won the HA Trophy on Saturday with a spiritual display. Although they started nervously Guernsey then relaxed and started to dominate possesion.

Despite the opposition Henley HC taking the lead with an early strike the Greens did not panic and were soon rewarded with a thumping strike from Man of the match Damien Wallen.

Guernsey then took the lead with a deft touch from marathon man Adam Kitching to take the lead. Henley then levelled with a well executed short corner before Ben Allberry scored the first of his two goals.

The first being from a one on one with the keeper and the second from a penalty flick.

The Guernsey supporters were then left with a nervous finish when 10 minutes from time they were reduced to 10 men and Henley converted a penalty flick. Despite the late pressure from Henley, Guernsey held on to secure the victory.

Guernsey Hockey would like to say thanks to all the supporters who attended not only to the final but the previous rounds as the players appreciated the excellent support they have received.
