CooperBrouard Outreach Programme
By the end of the Spring term qualified GHLBG coaches will have visited eight of the islands junior schools and given taster hockey sessions to approximately 550 Guernsey schoolchildren in Year’s 5 and 6 as part of their CooperBrouard Primary School’s Outreach Programme. The children are taught hockey skills and basic hockey rules which they incorporate into mini-style games.
In May all the schools that have participated are invited to take part in a tournament held at the Footes Lane hockey pitch next to the Hockey Clubhouse. CooperBrouard provide playing T-shirts for all the players in their school colours and teams play 7 a-side mini hockey in two pools with two matches playing across the pitch at the same time. Parents and friends are invited to come and support the teams at this fun afternoon. Last year’s exciting final was between La Mare de Carteret and Vale Junior School. Vale Junior School won and have displayed their winning shield in their school trophy cabinet.
